Unscrew wooden lid, remove plastic stopper (do not need to keep this piece - it is strictly to prevent leakage before you begin to use it) and replace wooden lid. Tilt air freshener upside down to saturate the wooden lid with fragrance. Wooden lid will diffuse the scent throughout the space.
